Perth Plus Add Points Value

The second round of Recreational League fixtures took place at Bell’s Sports Centre on Sunday evening and ex Glenrothes YM’s Brian Hutton led his Perth Plus Mental Health team to to the top of the table, the only team to have scored maximum points with only four games played. Satnam Ner’s Dunfermline side slip into second place with Stuart Anderson’s Hitting Bricks separating Kinross BB and Kinross Juniors in 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th places.

Jamie Booth’s Kinross Mongrels played their first league game of the season against Perth High “A” and got off to a great start winning two sets to love with local teenage sisters Hannah and Rebeccah Peedle making their league debuts. Hitting Bricks defeated both Perth High “A” and“B” in their two fixtures by two sets to love.

Kinross Mongrels Kat Thomson attacking against Motley Crew

It was Dunfermline who next dumped Perth High “B” following this up by another comfortable win against Ian McGrath’s Motley Crew to keep them very much in contention for the league title.

Motley Crew and Mongrels were involved in a titanic struggle, Mongrels just edging the first set 27-25 with some great attacks by Kat Thomson but Crew fought back to take the second set 25-15, setting up a third set decider with minutes remaining. The score was poised at three points each when the final whistle sounded but a rally was in progress which finished with Crew winning that one vital point for victory.

Kinross Juniors Matthew Moloney attacking againt Tay Pearls

Barbara Moffat’s Tay Pearls then met Matthew Moloney’s Kinross Juniors. The first set was all Juniors but the second set was more evenly contested and with the score at 24 points all, Pearls were unlucky to lose out 24-26 giving the Juniors full points. Pearls’ fine play continued against Perth High “C” recording a two love win. The Juniors then met league leaders Perth Plus Mental Health and were taught a lesson in attacking volleyball, Plus Perth winning 25-13; 25-6. Brian Hutton’s Plus Perth continued their winning ways to stay top of the table defeating Mary Cook’s Aberfeldy by two sets to love. Aberfeldy then met Jack Watson’s Kinross BB and this one too was a close game. The Breadalbane side won the first set 25-17 but the BB side levelled the match by taking the second set 25-22. A third set decider ensued and with the score poised at four points each the final whistle sounded with a rally in progress. It was Aberfeldy who scored the vital victory point.

There are no volleyball fixtures next Sunday as the Sports Centre has a special booking, Recreational fixtures continuing on Sunday 27^th November.
