Team Fife win Recreational Cup

The Perth & Kinross 2018/19 volleyball season kicked-off with a very closely fought Recreational Cup.

Plus Perth edged-out Tay Pearls to win group A, whilst Dunfermline triumphed over Giggling Bricks and the ever-improving Perth High School team to qualify from Group B.

Team Fife topped Group C ahead of One Shot Wonders with Motley Crew finishing ahead of Aberfeldy in Group D to complete the semi-final line up.

The Team Fife youngsters managed to always keep just a few points ahead of Plus Perth in a very competitive first semi-final, taking victory 21-16, 21-17.

The second semi-final was even closer with Dunfermline taking the first set  21-16 against Motley Crew who fought back to claim the second set 21-19. Dunfermline were the sharper side at the start of the deciding set edging to 6-4 ahead when time ran out to claim their spot in the final.

Team Fife dominated the first set of the final taking it 21-11. But Dunfermline staged a remarkable comeback from 10-16 down to take the second set 21-19 and force a deciding set. There was some great volleyball played with both teams displaying excellent defensive skills. Team Fife regained their composure to lift this season’s Recreational Cup by taking the final set 15-6.
