Perth & District Volleyball League called on a range of players to make up a team to enter Scottish Volleyball’s Scottish Cup competition and a wide range of players from Fife, Kinross and Perth came together on Saturday afternoon at Heriot Watt University’s Oriam Indoor Sports’ facility.
There was an added edge to this fixture with two former Kinross High School pupils, Callum McPherson and Matthew Collie, playing for the University side whilst Kinross coach Dave Munro was in the Perth & Kinross select line-up.
The first set was evenly matched with the players from both sides taking time to “bed-in” with their team mates but it was the visitors who edged ahead to win 25-21.
The second set saw the Fife, Kinross and Perth players come together to dominate play winning 25-10. The third set followed the pattern of the second with a 25-11 win giving the Perth & Kinross select team a three sets to love victory.
Perth & Kinross now play Dundee University at the Kinross Campus on the afternoon of Saturday 1st December.
