Kinross Scotrange League Champions

Sunday evening saw the final round of Premier Volleyball League fixtures of the season at Bell’s Sports Centre. Although the league championship had already been decided it was an interesting evening’s volleyball.
Colin McGinley’s Team Fife, runners up again this season, opened the evening against Andrew Hutchison’s Kinross Kintronics. The Kinross side, languishing in the lower half of the league, surprised the Fife side by taking the first set 25-22. Fifers fought back to take the second set 25-13 and line up a third set decider.  The early stages saw the sides trade points before Team Fife edged ahead to lead 9-6 as the final whistle sounded.
Fifers then met Ian McGrath’s Mental Blocks with the Fifers in full flight now taking the game 25-13; 25-8.
Craig Scott led Scotrange with youngster Jack Watson promoted from Recreational League side Kinross BB as second setter in place of veteran Craig Donaldson out through injury. Their opening fixture against Mental Blocks saw the champions win easily by two sets to love. They then met fellow Kinross side Kintronics and the first set was close, Scotrange only pulling away at the final stages winning 25-19; 25-17.
Satnam Ner’s Dunfermline side was involved in a thrilling first set against Iain Cook’s Eagles. Dunfermline were poised at set point, 24-19 before Eagles started an amazing fightback to win 26-24. The second set saw Eagles seal victory by 25 points to15.
