Team Fife lift Recreational Cup

The final stages of the 2021-22 Recreational Cup were played at Perth College Academy of Sport & Wellbeing on Sunday 20th February 2022.

The top 6 teams from previous weeks’ qualifying groups played in 2 round-robin groups to decide the semi-finalists.

Aberfeldy topped group A courtesy of a tight 3-set victory over Nae Fear who also reached the semi-finals as group runners-up.

In group B, Plus Perth won through to the semi-finals without dropping a set while Team Fife edged out Tay Pearls to claim the last remaining semi-final spot.

Both semi-finals were closely contested with the Team Fife youngsters gaining confidence to defeat Aberfeldy while Plus Perth fought a very tight 3-set battle with Nae Fear. Plus Perth edged ahead at the start of the deciding set and were 2 points ahead as time ran out.

The final was therefore a re-match between Plus Perth & Team Fife.

The 1st set was neck and neck until 18 points each when Team Fife surged ahead to 22-18. Plus Perth then clawed their way back to 22-23 before Team Fife sealed the first set 25-22. Now brimming with confidence Team Fife started the 2nd set strongly and managed to keep themselves ahead throughout the set to over-turn their earlier loss to Plus Perth in the round-robin stages.

Congratulations to the 2021-22 Recreational Cup Winners: Team Fife.
