After the first round of Premier League Volleyball fixtures at Bell’s Sports Centre on Sunday evening there are four teams level on points and it is quite fitting that the teams come from Fife, Perth and Kinross.
The sides meet at Bell’s this coming Sunday and the top of the table will look much different as Colin McGinley’s Glenrothes based Team Fife take on the other two sides who currently sit level on points with them take on Gregor Walker’s Perth side Dodgy Spikers and follow this up facing Craig Donaldson’s Kinross Scotrange. Ian Cook’s Eagles take on both Dodgy Spikers and Scotrange in what should be an exciting evening next Sunday.

Sunday’s games started with a Fife local derby as Team Fife took on Graeme McIntyre’s local rivals Dunfermline Phoenix. Team Fife who last month were league cup finalists wasted no time in putting their Fife rivals to the sword to the tune of 25-13; 25 -17.

Team Fife followed this up by another convincing two sets to love victory over Ian McGrath’s understrength Mental Blocks.

Craig Donaldson’s Kinross Scotrange opened their league season against Stuart Anderson’s Hitting Bricks and the first set was extremely close as Bricks pulled back from15-22 down to 23-24 with Scotrange just scraping through to win the first set. The second set saw Scotrange dominate play with Connor Boyle and Mark Cathro leading effective attacks. Scotrange then faced their local rivals Kintronics who fielded fifteen year old Kinross High School youngsters Jack McKelvie and Callum Campbell. The experienced Scotrange side proved too strong for Kintronics, winning 25-13; 25-14.
Gregor Walker’s Dodgy Spikers’ opening game against Stuart Anderson’s Perth rivals Hitting Bricks saw a very close first set with Spiker’s edging it 25-22. The second set saw a more convincing Spikers as they stormed ahead to win 25-14. Spikers followed this up by dumping Mental Blocks by two sets to love.
Iain Cook’s Perth based Eagles met both Dunfermline and Kintronics dumping both sides by two sets to love to set up and exciting range of games next Sunday.
