Volleyball is back!

Local volleyball is back – back to the future. Spread the word with your former teammates and friends – new teams welcome, especially beginners and schools.

After two years of no local volleyball league action, it’s time to dust off the knee pads and get our brains and bodies back into volleyball mode with a special appeal for new players. The opening free session will take place on Bell’s main arena centre court using a lengthwise net to cover the five badminton courts. Games will be mixed age wise and gender wise, with 3 or 4 a side and with the five badminton courts we could accommodate up to 60 players with 40 playing at one time and the other 20 engaged in officiating, line judging and scoring.

We then plan to run Premier and Recreational mini-leagues over the next few months with a view to completing competitions by Easter.

We shouldn’t forget the Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament on the North Inch over the weekend of 28th, 29th May, still the largest volleyball tournament in the UK.

Looking forward to seeing you all back on court again after a prolonged, enforced lay-off and hopefully we can encourage newcomers and new teams to take us forward.
