Sunday evening’s Recreational League matches at Perth College certainly went to the wire in terms of who finished in the top six and who didn’t.
Andy Gunn’s Kinross side opened against Ian McGrath’s Motley Crew with the Kinross side winning through 25-19; 25-10. They followed this up taking full points from their match against PLUS Perth to see them now sit in second place behind Team Fife. Ellen Ranklin’s Fifers maintained their one hundred per cent record beating Karen Crockart’s Tay Pearls 25-19; 25-15 which sees Pearls finish in the lower half of the league split.
With Aberuthven Acers gaining full points against PLUS Perth the match between Crieff and Paris Diggers had added importance to who finished in the top six. Crieff had already qualified but Diggers needed to win one set to ensure they too were up with the “big boys.” Crieff won the first set 25-16 but Diggers kept at it and were leading 18-17 when full time was called. This meant that both Acers and Diggers finished on 63 points but Acers go through by virtue of better “sets won” scores. In the other match All Stars defeated Nae Fear 25-22; 25-16 to overtake them into fourth place.
