Flying high – Nae Fear

Sunday’s recreational volleyball league started with first versus second as Nae Fear took on Kinross. Kinross couldn’t find any rhythm in the first set and crashed to a 25-11 defeat. The second set saw Kinross play more effective volleyball and they were unlucky to take nothing from the match as Nae Fear edged victory 26-24.

This was followed up with another two sets to love win against Strathallan 25-15; 25-19 to keep Nae Fear as outright league leaders having won ten games, with no losses recorded to date. Strathallan got back to winning ways when they defeated Aberfeldy 25-19; 25-11.Strathallan’s final game of the evening was against Brian Hutton and the PLUS Perth team. This was a really close match with the youngsters edging out their more experienced opponents 26-24; 26-24.

The PLUS Perth side returned to winning ways against Kinross High and Tay Pearls to move into second place in the league table. Kinross took on Aberfeldy for their second and final game of the evening and this turned out to be a three setter with Kinross winning the first set 25-14, Aberfeldy winning the second 25-21 to set up a third set decider. It was Kinross who won through in the end by 14 points to 8.

St Juan’s youngsters got their evening off to a winning start beating Tay Pearls 25-12; 25-13. Against Motley Crew St Juan got off to a storming start leading16-6 but a revival saw Crew claw their way back into the game before St Juan eventually closed things down with a 25-22 win. The second set saw Crew get themselves better organised and forced a third set decider by winning the second set 25-14. The third set saw Crew lead 14-7 to collect their bonus points. Crew’s other game saw them defeat Kinross High School by two sets to love to edge Kinross out of third place.

This Sunday sees the premier league teams meet for only their second round of fixtures at Bell’s Sports Centre.

Dodgy Spikers are the team in pole position as the only undefeated team so far and they have games against Perth Volleyball and Team Fife and are surely favourites to stay top after Sundays games.
