Nae Fear at the Top

Recreational teams met again at Perth College on Sunday evening for their next round of fixtures with some close affairs and some not so close matches.

Motley Crew took on Kinross who had knocked them out of the league cup earlier this season and the gained some revenge by taking the first set 25-20 but couldn’t finish the visitors as the Kinross side were leading 23-21 as full time was called. Kinross defeated St Juan in their other match to stay in fourth position. Motley Crew then played Strathallan and stormed the first set 25-6 but it was so different in the second set with Strathallan taking a deserved 6-1 lead. Crew fought back and the scores were tied first at 11 each and then 20 each before Crew edged victory 25-21.

Strathallan then met Aberfeldy with the Breadalbane side winning 25-17; 25-14.

Motley Crew then took on Nae Fear with Nae Fear surging to a 14-2 lead before Crew got their act together and despite clawing their way back to within two points at 20-22, it was Nae Fear who finished as winners 25-21; 25-19.

The Tay Pearls versus St Juan was the one match which went to three sets with Pearls scraping the first set 25-23 only for St Juan to level the match with a 25-16 second set score. The third set saw St Juan dominate play to win the match 15-2. Pearls also defeated Kinross High School who had earlier lost out to Aberfeldy. St Juan lost their other match against Kinross. Nae Fear then took on Crieff, winning 25-17; 25-18 to top the league table. Crieff’s other match was against Strathallan which they won 25-21; 25-19.
