Perth Volleyball Cup Clashes this Sunday

This Sunday sees the Perth & Kinross District Volleyball League season start at Perth College Academy of Sport and Wellbeing this Sunday evening with the first round of the Recreational League Cup competition.

The popularity of volleyball is growing steadily as can be seen with an increase in the number of teams participating in this season’s competition. Twelve teams will compete in this season’ Recreational Cup competition with four sections of three teams in the initial round of fixtures with the top two teams qualifying for the second round of fixtures on 24th September. Two new sides will take part for the first time this season the All Stars and Paris Diggers. They will join last season’s regulars which include school pupils from Crieff, Kinross and St John’s Academy.
Anyone who fancies trying volleyball as a beginner is encouraged to come along to the Perth College sports hall and introduce themselves to someone there so that they can be included in upcoming coaching/playing sessions at either Crieff, Kinross or Perth.
Last season’s league champions Nae Fear are drawn in section A alongside Crieff and Perth Volleyball Club’s recreational sides. Cup holders Kinross are drawn in section C alongside Tay Pearls, one of the leagues longest serving members and new side Paris Diggers. In section B Motley Crew and Aberfeldy welcome the new All Stars team with section D seeing Team Fife take on Kinross High and St John’s Academy side St Juan.
All games will be timed at 35 minutes or the best of three sets to 21 points with 3 cup points being awarded for every complete set won, 2 cup points for every incomplete set win, 1 point for an incomplete drawn set and zero points for a loss.
