Recreational Cup Results

Sunday evening saw the opening fixtures of the new local volleyball season at Perth College Sports Hall with sectional games being played for the final round of fixtures on 1st October. 

Section one was closely fought with last season’s league champions Nae Fear edging victory against the fast-improving Crieff 21-19; 15-14. Nae Fear then faced the Perth junior team and this too was finely balanced with the youngsters taking the first set 21-15 only for Nae Fear to take the second set 21-12. Nae Fear managed to keep their noses in front in the 3rd set at 6-4 when time ran out. Perth then defeated Crieff 21-12; 21-19 to finish as section runners-up. 

Section two was more straightforward with Motley Crew beating Aberfeldy 21-14; 17-10 and new side the All Stars also beating the Breadalbane side 21-18-21-18 to set up a section decider in the final game of their section. The All Stars started brightly leading 11-9 but the Crew got their act together to run out winners 21-18; 21-18. 

Diggers in Paris

Section three was a straight battle between Kinross High and Team Fife. The first set saw the High School youngsters lead 19-17 but a final push from the Fifers saw them take the first set 25-20, following this up with a similar second set score. 

Kinross

Section four opened with Kinross playing Tay Pearls and the first set was evenly poised at 14-13 before Kinross went on a scoring spree to eventually win21-14; 21-16. New side Paris Diggers then played Kinross with the newcomers taking a while to find their feet losing the first set 12-21. The second set saw a much improved performance from the Paris youngsters, pushing the Kinross side all the way with errors finally costing them the match when it was poised at 22 points each. The Paris Diggers then played Tay Pearls and did enough to win 21-13; 19-17 to qualify as section runners-up.
