The final fixtures of 2023 took place at Perth College on Sunday evening with the Recreational League teams providing all the action.
First up was Jayne Cafferty’s Nae Fear against Lesley Kelly’s Tay Pearls and it was Pearls who pipped their local rivals to take the first set 26-24. Nae Fear came storming back in the second set to win 25-6 taking the game to a third set decider. Nae Fear finished 6-2 ahead when full time was called. Nae Fear then played Heather Wilson’s Kinross High team and the early stages were closely contested until the score reached 9 points each. A run of points by Nae Fear saw them take both sets 25-13 to maintain their challenge at the top of the table. Tay Pearls were involved in another close match against Aberfeldy with the Breadalbane side pipping Pearls to take the first set 27-25. Time was called as the second set was in full swing with Pearls leading this one 12-9. Aberfeldy then played Michael Donaldson’s Kinross with the Kinross side winning 25-17; 25-6. The Kinross side followed this up with a two sets to love win against Paris Diggers to keep their championship challenge alive. Diggers then met Team Fife with Ellen Ranklin’s Fifers finishing on top winning both sets 25-12. Team Fife won their match against PLUS Perth to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
In the other games new side Aberuthven Acers won both of their fixtures beating both Kinross High School and Crieff. All Stars won against PLUS Perth and Motley Crew with Crew also losing to Crieff.
